Story

Journey with us across the Pacific to explore the magic of Papua New Guinea. This coffee is a departure from our Latin American focus but it was simply too incredible to pass up. Delightful notes of sweet strawberry, vanilla, and rich wine fruits will tantalize your tastebuds. The mystery and culture of this small island nation in the Pacific comes alive in every glass.

Bean

Grown in the western highlands of Papua New Guinea amongst lush mountains of coffee and tea farms, the Arusha bean is an exotic sub-variety. The Arusha bean specifically, is grown in Tanzania and Papua New Guinea. This sub-variety of Bourbon (Arabica family) originates from the Arusha region of Tanzania. Both its birthplace and Papua New Guinea offer similar growing conditions on lush highlands with plentiful rainfall.

The Arusha bean is known for its inherent sweetness that is balanced with earthy notes and bright acidity. Commonly the tasting notes are a sweet fruit, like a strawberry, combined with sultry notes like wine fruits.

Our Arusha bean comes from a series of smallholders in the Jikawa Province in Papua New Guinea's Western Highland region.

Region

Jikawa Province is located in Papua New Guinea's Western Highlands. The predominate economy in this region is coffee, which accounts for 20% of the country's total production. The land is densely forested and dramatic, with mountains and river valleys. Small coffee farms, less than two hectares are intermixed with tea farms, contributing to the unique flavor profile of the bean.
